Making use of discarded vintage denim, these Converse CTAS 70's Ox Renew Denim Shoes have uppers made from upcycled dark and light denim which means that every pair is unique. Bringing attention to the use of different denim, the uppers and tongue vary in tone which enhances the low cut silhouette whilst durable metal eyelets have been used for ventilation above the outsole and to hold the cotton laces in place for a secure fastening. Contrasting white top stitching flows across the uppers, around the edge of the tongue and down the back of the heel whilst throughout the interior a smooth fabric lining sits alongside an OrthoLite sockliner to provide all day comfort. For abrasion resistance a durable rubber cap sits on the front of the toes whilst the speckled layered outsole has a textured panel around the front of the foot and a grip-focused tread pattern.
Making use of fabric waste in a bid to make their manufacturing process more sustainable, Converse introduced their Renew project in the summer of 2019 and continues to add new designs which utilise recycled polyester made from plastic bottles and vintage denim from deadstock jeans. Maintaining the classic look of their rubber soled footwear which have gained a strong following within fashion, music and art culture since their introduction in the 1920’s, the Renew campaign follows the tagline of ‘there’s always a way to renew what we do’ which nods to Converse’s timeless and highly versatile designs.
